Preparatory Work of Wheat Flour Production

  • Wheat Receiving and Storage Process

In the acquisition of wheat, we shall pay strict attention to its quality, and store it separately in different warehouses according to their grade. The raw grain depot shall have proper ventilation, drying, anti rats, insect prevention and other measures.

  • Wheat Cleaning Process

When the wheat goes down the well, wheat cleaning machines is required. The pre-cleaner can remove large and heavy impurities first; then wheat goes into permanent magnetic drum for demagnetization. After that, the vibration sieve separates light and small impurities, while dry de-stoners finally clear away impurities similar to wheat size.

Wheat Cleaning Process

The Requirements Cleaning 

  • Dirt impurities shall be less than 0.3%, among which sand is not more than 0.03%, miscellaneous grain is less than 0.6%, and no metal impurities contained.
  • After the cleaning, ash content decrease shall be higher than 0.06%.
  • Net wheat moisture content shall make sure when produced, the flour water content meet with national standards.
  • The net wheat gluten contained in wheat should ensure when produced, the gluten value of flour meet the standards prescribed by the state.

Wheat Cleaning Process

  • Ⅰ Precleaning Step

the cleaning process before wheat goes into dirty wheat bin is called precleaning. The precleaning shall at least go through a precleaner which combined fanning and screening. The task of pre-cleaning is to clear the big impurities in Wheat (like straw, hemp rope, wood chip, etc.) and some light and small impurities, so as to avoid big impurities clogging the inlet and outlet of equipments or pipeline and avoid dust flying everywhere.

  • Ⅱ Dirty Wheat Cleaning Step

A: Vibrating screen (with a fanning).The task of vibration sieve is to remove impurities relatively large and small impurities. Into stone.

B: De-st​oner. The function of de-stoner is to remove stones and mud has the same size with wheat, at the same time the wheat husk and marl lighter than wheat are taken away by the suction pipe. Then wheat goes into magnetic separator.

C: Magnetic separator. It is a passage with permanent magnet (it mainly cleans iron nail, screw nut, and other magnetic objects). When wheat goes through the magnetic separator, it will clear away the magnetic objects.

D: Wheat scourer. The wheat scourer machine is used to break up the grain particles that are moldy or injured with high-speed rotation, and then separated from impurities through the air suction equipment. After that, the vibration sieve will remove broken grains and larger impurities.

  • Ⅲ Wheat Moisture Adjusting Step

The moisture regulating is a necessary process using the factors of water, weather and time to improve the process characteristics of wheat, provide good technology conditions for wheat flour milling, and ensure flour quality.

A.
According to the water content standard requirements of raw materials and flour, water adjustment can ensure the quality of final produced flour.
B. Dampen wheat skin and increase wheat bran toughness to guarantee in the grinding process, wheat bran is not too small to be mixed with flour, in order to reduce bran speck content of flour.
C. Loosen wheat endosperm structure, reduce intensity, make the wheat easy to be grinded, and also save energy consumption.
D. As different parts in wheat vary in the absorption and distribution of water, the bond between cortex and endosperm will loosen, which makes flour and bran easy to be separated, and also increases flour extraction rate.

The best moisture content of wheat when it enters flour mill is generally 14-16%. After moisture adjusting, wheat is spin-dried and goes into the clean wheat bin.

Wheat tempering time: for hard wheat 24-30 hours or so; for soft wheat 16-24 hours (in summer take the minimum value, while in winter take the maximum value).

Before or after moisture adjustment can set up wheat blending process. 

The aim of wheat blending milling is to mix a variety of wheat with different textures in certain proportion, in order to ensure the quality of flour and at the same time improve extraction rate and the production process stability.

Before water regulation, wheat blending is to add wheat according to certain proportion. After water regulation, wheat blending is to clean and dampen wheat in batches, and then wheat flows into the tempering bin for tempering. The wheat release gate or wheat blending machine controls blending proportion, and then all wheat is mixed in auger.

After tempering, de-stoning, threshing, removing impurities from wheat, the suction separator separates broken kernels from good wheat, and finally clean wheat goes into flour milling workshop.

Wheat Flour Milling (Flour Production)

  1. Bran milling: after grinding by bran mill, you get the mixture of cereal, slag pieces and coarse powder. The subsequent bran mill is responsible for scraping the coarse powder from bran.
  2. After bran milling, the material is delivered into a square plansifter for screening, and the mixed material with different volumes are separated: a part of them are bran flakes that are delivered into bran mill for further grinding, a part of them is flour that will enter flour collection system, while the rest is a mixture of middling.
  3. The mixture of middling needs to go into purifier for grading. After grading, some clean powder continues to be grinded, while the other part of the middling goes into core mill system for grinding. The core mill has 1-6path, which is in charge of grinding wheat core into flour with certain fineness.
  4. Flour after checking, sieving and magnetic separation channel enters the packaging workshop.
  5. Whereas bran after grinding enters bran brushing machine which separates the flour from bran, while bran enters outlet through the air duct.

Wheat flour production workshop requirements

  • The flour milling workshop must be equipped with dust filtering equipment to prevent the dust in workshop exceed standard.
  • Before the wheat flour is delivered to packaging process, there must be magnetic separation equipment.
  • No chemicals unrelated to production are permitted to be placed in flour milling workshop, such as anti rat chemicals.
  • Before stepping into the workshop, anyone must wear clean work clothes, hats and shoes. No one is allowed to place personal clothing in the production area, or eat and drink, spitting, smoking in the production area.
  • All the processing equipment is added lubricating oil, workers shall clean up timely to prevent it from contacting with the product.
  • Shall set critical control point and formulate critical limit in accordance with production characteristics for such equipments like magnetic separator, additive trace feeder, etc. Formulate operation instruction for critical control point and fill in quality records.
  • Shall stipulate process inspection regulations according to the production characteristics of the project, and fill in quality records.
  • Shall formulate sub quality product control procedures, and take corrective measures when there is unqualified occurrence.

Packaging workshop

Through quantitative packaging machine, flour is packed into set weight according to customer needs, and then conveyed to sealing machine via a conveyor belt.

Packaging requirements.

  • Manufacturer shall use packing material that meet with national standard to pack finished wheat flour and materials that go back the machine.
  • The packaging materials must be stored in a clean and dry warehouse, covered by non-toxic cloth and piled up away from the walls.
  • The powder that has fallen is forbidden to be packaged and leave factory.
  • Must establish management system for the packing machine sewing needles, in case the broken needles mix with product.
  • The net weight of packaged products should meet the requirements of the relevant state regulations. In the process of packaging, worker should regularly check and record.

Inspection

  1. After passing the quality inspection, the quality inspection certificate can be provided to the product and allow it to leave factory. The unqualified products are not allowed to leave factory, and they will be processed according to the unqualified product processing requirements.
  2. If the manufacturer has no ability for some enterprise testing project, it can entrust any qualified inspection agencies to do the inspection, but it shall sign entrusted inspection agreement with the inspector.
  3. Every year at least check the health indicators of the products for 2 times.

Finished products warehouse for wheat flour mill

  • The finished products must be stored in special warehouse. The ground needs a bedding material. The flour bags shall pile at least 3cm away from the wall. Do not store any objects unrelated to finished products storage or transportation.
  • The warehouse should have corresponding product symbol.
  • The warehouse should have rat proof and pest control measures.
  • The out-put or in-put of the finished product warehouse shall be recorded.

Transportation

  1. All the transport vehicles, tools, bedding material and covering must be clean. It is not allowed to transport finished products and pollutants with the same car.
  2. All the transport vehicles are not allowed to enter the finished product warehouse.
